Right now my hosts only have 8GB of local storage for the operating system. The primary storage for the containers and vm's is ceph rbd. I have a vanilla ubuntu server that im current using for backups. Now that I am looking to implement proxmox for all my systems, how do i go about having...
Nevermind, Resolved. Issue was the keyring as well. I thought that was only needed if you didnt use the gui. Sad they dont automated that. Really seems half baked.
Are we sure its supposed to be spaces? The wiki actually has semicolons between them:
# from /etc/pve/storage.cfg
rbd: my-ceph-storage
monhost 10.10.10.1;10.10.10.2;10.10.10.3
pool rbd

Though im getting the same connection error as well with...
Any ideas why this is happening on fresh installs on debian wheezy? If i manually create the directory, file, and perm and need to reinstall proxmox for cluster reasons, i have to recreate these again.
1) why isnt the proxmox installer creating the folder/file if needed?
2) why are they...
Well you will find that pretty much all Redhat staff members disagree with you and clearly state that cluster communication needs to be on its own interface. The fact that you have been lucky not to experience issues is irrelevant to what its recommended by the people that make the clustering...
Right, but wont other communication to the proxmox hostnames go through the cluster subnet if i change all the servers hostname records in the hosts file to reflect that particular subnet? I obviously dont want any file transfers, migrations, etc, to go over that subnet since multicast with cman...
I want cluster communication to happen on its own subnet, but storage/web, etc, on another. How do accomplish this with proxmox? Do i simply manually edit the hostnames in the cluster.conf atfter install with ones that simply point to the particular subnet ip's? Thats the only solution I can...
I need to remotely do a few tasks on the proxmox servers that the current api doesnt provide. Is there a way to enhance the api in an upgrade safe fashion? If not, is there a way to expose a script to the web server that proxmox uses?
Do note that I'm not looking really for how to do the console, etc, but in how to run any script in general after a vm is started or shutdown, etc.

I only use KVM. While I would love to be able to run a script within the vm too, I actually in this case need to do it on the host.

I need to automatically update /etc/inetd.conf when a VM is created so I can add their VNC entries (I hate the java console). Is there any type of hook or way to easily run a bash script or whatever after a VM is created or destroyed? I would even take being able to just do it after one is...
Any update on when that HTML5 Viewer option will be included with Proxmox and able to be launched from the proxmox interface? Obviously not expecting a date, but is it being planned and/or actively worked on?
you need a private network just for cluster communication or else you are more than likely going to have an unstable cluster. Unicast/multicast is very sensitive and really need dedicated nics. You can of course have other interfaces public, but none of the actual clustering communication should...
Raymond,
I understand and agree to an extent. I was just more frustrated with the lack of understanding by others that this feature is something that Proxmox already provides for openvz and the same arguments that can be used for providing or not providing premade kvm templates can also be...
Im not sure how windows got brought into the topic. No one expects that and obviously not possible because of licensing issues. Ive already listed multiple virtualization solutions that provide such *nix based templates. Proxmox does as well. They just dont offer them for kvm instances. I am...
Are there specific instructions listed somewhere for using TKL with Proxmox for KVM use? From basic instructions, you mention an iso, which to me then implies an installation process and probably the need to run a console to go through the process. I am not sure how you are thinking this is...
