I'm sure I am doing something incorrectly.
I port forwarded 8007 tcp and udp to my Proxmox Backup Server for Remote connections.
However I get this error:
I used the current ip address instead of a dynamic dns service and it added. I don't know how long that will last though, but it worked...
@Alwin @t.lamprecht
Thank you so much for your quick reply.
I am quite new at this. I will take a look at this further when I am in front of a computer and server.
I managed to make sure our backup images were down to about 60GB. Over the last couple months it has ballooned up to 100GB which is...
Hello Everybody,
Great news about the PVE Backup Server.
Are there any suggestions for backing up remotely?
I am assisting to setup in a small office that does not necessarily have the room for additional backup scenarios like many mentioned on these forums.
In another location, we setup a...
@spirit
Just wondering, do you select RAID mode or HBA mode in the idrac settings?
I installed one previously and think selected raid mode, but I deleted each virtual disk that Dell setup initially.
Now for my new box, I have deleted the disks and selected HBA mode, but it won't. Well I...
I think the Raspberry Pi's use Arm architecture. There have been some people on here who suggest setting up Pi's as an nfs server and do your backups there. I admit, running PVE Backup Server on it would be a great alternative.
Yeah that is the tricky thing. For one of the servers we had, we were using Windows 2016 Essentials. The software they were using along with a Xray sensor didn't "officially" support Windows Essentials, but then again it didn't officially support anything beyond Windows 2008 or Windows 2012...
I have been busy and have not had the chance to do all these things yet. However the Veam Agent for Windows Backup seems to be working now, and only 1 error a few days ago, other than that, backups have been running for the past 6 days.
The Windows Server Backup job however seems to be having...
I followed the tutoral. I think as a VM USB.
That could be the issue. For example, when I run a Veam backup, there is a moment where the drive disappears from inside the VM. For example, it shows in the device manager, disappears and then reappears, which could be causing a disruption in the...
I have Veam Agent for Windows Installed, and Windows Server backup which was both working before.
However, after switching hardware to a Supermicro 5019D-FTN4 .
Issue I am having is that backups don't seem to be running, can't find the USB Drives or they disappear for a while and the backup...
I'm really sorry to hear about all your troubles.
I'm sure if you can get the disk2vhd working, it would make things easier. The other possibility is not using VHDX, just VHD.
But again if the mountvol is showing an error then it wouldn't get an accurate grab of your OS and drives.
The mountvol...
Mine shows this now after I added the updated database.

This was the email error I was getting before that.
Device...
My error went away. I also took this server out of production, trasnferred the VMs to another device. I was getting the error a few more times after though.
Would this command clear the error?
Is it a glitch or a real error?
I also wanted to not some odd behaviour. After almost 6 months, my...
Did you get this to work?
I am having something similar, but I find when the Proxmox servers are in my homelab, the email notifcations get blocked. When installed physically in the office location, it is sending... But I get that similar error about status bounced
Were you able to mountvol a: /S ?
Were you able to use Disk2vhd? Run as administrator? And get a clean VHDX of the OS?
If those aren't completed successfully, I'm not sure if the system will boot...
Hmm. Not sure what the error is.
I did this a while ago and the I had to do it again recently.
Did you make sure to create a VM for Windows first, then delete the disks and then:
qm importdisk <vmid> <filename.VHDX> <storage>
I remember skipping that part and then it wouldn't boot up properly...
Thank you @Dominic and @tom
I had originally set this up, but after some deliberation I switched to the vzdump snapshot mode because it was faster and did not result in the rebooting of my server.
I'm wondering if it is good to reboot the Windows Server nightly when I run backups? This would...
Thank you for your feedback. I don't have that much experience with either. I am new to both. Although, I do have slightly more experience with Proxmox than with XCP as that is the one I have been using since August 2019. I've also used Ubuntu and Debian in the past which gives me the edge in...
Hello Proxmox community.
It has been a while, and I have been rethinking my backup strategy.
What would be the recommended backup procedure?
Or a recommended backup procedure?
I am running Windows Server 2019 with a SQL Express Database on a separate vmdisk within the VM. So far I have been...
