Yes I have seen that before but my question was more towards -- how is it working for my server but not for the new install that I have done.
Secondly, when I set the perms as 777 on the host -- I was able to write to the directory from within the container.. Also when I set the permissions as...
This has to be something that others must have encountered. I am losing my head trying to wrap the permissions.
I have Nextcloud setup for myself in an unprivileged LXC container. The data directory for this install is on a FreeNAS server. The way I set it up in the host is as an NFS share...
Unfortunately it only has 8GB RAM currently. I am thinking I might just install and see how it performs. If it's not up to par, then maybe I can either upgrade the CPU or the RAM but probably not both due to budget constraints.
Can someone comment on the CPU though? Do I need to upgrade it to a Core i3 or higher for the intended usage? Or will the Pentium G3240 be sufficient for running Nextcloud smoothly?
The other containers are not something that will be accessed very often and so won't need too much processing...
Right. The server currently has 8GB ECC RAM. I was just wondering if I have to increase it maybe I can use non-ECC as I have some around. But as you said, 8GB should be enough as I intend to use containers for most of the services. There will be at most 5 containers + Nextcloud. This is a build...
No I don't want to run any VMs on the FreeNAS box.
I can increase the RAM a bit on this box if it can run Proxmox. What is the minimum RAM I'll need in order to run Proxmox? Does it have to be ECC RAM? I was thinking since I don't intend to use ZFS I can probably go with regular RAM as long as...
I currently am running FreeNAS on the following system and was wondering if I can use the same system for Proxmox
Tyan S5533 mITX
Pentium G3240
8 GB ECC RAM
I realize that the CPU does not support VT-d -- but I was only planning on using VMs and containers and not necessarily passthrough...
I tried setting this up similar to my other services -- via caddy2 reverse proxy server but it didn't work.
I tried using IP:8006 in the dial option for caddy reverse proxy config, but that just returned an ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE back. I even tried using the host:localdomain:8006 and that just...
To handle SSL and also as a way to not have to remember the services ip/domains and ports, I just created a reverse proxy container within proxmox. I installed caddy2 on it and it can now handle the automatic renewal of certificates etc. No cron job needed.
I wanted to do the same for the...
Wonderful. Is there a reason why the built-in network sharing service works only if I am using ZFS and not just regular LVM based disks?
Correct. I intended to use the network connection only for remote clients. The Proxmox host will use it as a local storage or probably not use it at all. I...
Yes, if you have IPMI , iLO or iDRAC.
But you should figure out why it's shutting down in the first place. SMART shouldn't turn off any PC, let alone a server. How did you determine that it was SMART that was shutting down the server? Are there errors that cause a shutdown?
Hello,
I am building a server and was wondering if there was a way to share the local proxmox storage as a SMB share or a NFS share over the local network. I googled but the only hits I found were related to adding a share to the proxmox or a LXC container. Nothing about using the proxmox...
That depends on what you want to do.
You can add a NFS storage or create local storage. You can choose to use ZFS or simply use LVM. Describe what you want to do and someone can guide you.
There isn't a "One size fits all" when it comes to any server configuration.
Ok, I got a few things going, but I don't think I am there yet.
Install nut-snmp apt install nut-snmp This will install all the necessary nut tools
Edit /etc/nut/nut.conf and change MODE=none to MODE=standalone
Edit /etc/nut/ups.conf and add configuration for your UPS
[upsname] # choose...
Hi,
I have a rack mounted Eaton 5PX1500RTN with a Network MS card that I would like to use in a way to shutdown all VMs and CTs and then shutdown the Proxmox host 5 mins after the power is lost.
I have set it up successfully in my FreeNAS and my pfSense boxes. However, when I try to search...
Sorry for the delayed reply. But I didn't have a chance to do multiple reboots of the server. However, ever since I disabled the IPv6 in the container conf file, I haven't seen any loss of IP address in that container. So the problem seems to be resolved.
However, I still don't know why Debian...
I just realized that the debian container was losing the ip assigned after some time.
I had manually started the container and had an IP, but now when I went in to disable the IPv6, I just checked ip a and I had no IP assigned. So it seems that the container was losing IP address.
I have now...
