Is there any wat to send a 'qm stop/shutdown' command to VM gracefully shutdown, without writing to /var/log/...?
As it is readonly I cannot do anything from command line, however for the VMs I can access I am able to as it for a shutdown inside, but I dont know how to stop the others that I...
Taking a part @avw, what would be a better setup, considering this situation of Power Loss will happen again, and I can´t afford a ssd with power loss protection?
Using another filesystem for root would help me in any way? ZFS perhaps?
Thanks in advance
Dear @avw , i do have UPS, unfortunally didnt setup it up to shut down properly, and had a power loss event that turned my root read-only.
I reboot and got it working again without doing anything (I assume fsck ran at boot time and did fixed it auto).
However I had not any power loss recently...
I´m also using consumer SSDs Kingston. I have disabled ha, and after 3 months I notice just a little increase in wearout, 1% I think. And it is up 24hours a day.
However my VMs are located on other ssds, that are running for heavy duties. even that just increased 1% during this time.
Unless...
Dear folks,
Just wondering if LVM has any advantage against LVM-Thin regarding performance and wearout for NVMe SSDs?
Does anyone has any recomendations for it?
I´m not taking account the already known space optimization benefits.
Thanks
Thanks for the info @bobmc.
My isp modem unfortunately doesnt support that, and I ended up letting it as it is. My challenge is at with pfsense now, and my scenario requires me to access from some other machine at isp modem network.
What i did for now is to create another VM at vmbr0 and im...
basically I have 2 physical nics, (configs bellow)
I wish to ssh into proxmox from outside, and tunneling a connection to a guest VM. that simple!
However the VMs are behing a PFSense, that is causing me this trouble

Dear @bobmc, tks for replying
In fact its something on PFSense, i did a shell at PFSense and started a nc listening at some port, and frmo proxmox i could connect to it sucefully simply by using its isp router ip 192.168.100.6
So i guess its something inside PFSense.
The bad news for me is...
traceroute 192.168.100.12
traceroute to 192.168.100.12 (192.168.100.12), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets
1 192.168.100.12 (192.168.100.12) 1.169 ms 1.123 ms 1.112 ms
traceroute 192.168.100.6 (runs but no route )*****
root@*:~# ip route get 192.168.100.6
192.168.100.6 dev vmbr0 src 192.168.100.10 uid 0
cache
root@*:~# ip route get 192.168.100.12
192.168.100.12 dev vmbr0 src 192.168.100.10 uid 0

Dear folks,
I have a Proxmox with a PFSense VM and Im trying to reach PFSense through Proxmox shell.
The network is setup as follows:
ISP modem (with dhcp 192.168.100.1)
Proxmox connected to isp modem, static 192.168.100.10 (vmbr0)
PFsense a vm inside Proxmox, also gets an ip from isp modem...
