Have you ever did some NFS Performance Tests ? How does your NFS configuration Looks like?
We've had similar Problems on Proxmox verions prior version 3. some of Our Engineers nailed the issues down by tweaking the tcp Stack and NFS configuration.
Your issues may be NFS related and not Hardware.
The Smart Array P410i is known as a low Performance on Board Controller. Not recommended for SSD as far as my experiences goes with this Controller. Try to get a 420 or higher version.
We have not applied the kernel fix yet - waiting for a more clear advise. We are running two E5 v3 Xeon CPU on each Server. The Bug Report was mentioning Xeon® Processor E7 v2 in particular, causing issues. i might be wrong, but it seems that not all Xeon CPU types are impacted by this problem.
We currently doing burn in Tests with several dl360 G9 (all Firmware uptodate) before we go in Production with pve 4. all Servers are currently under Full load with KVM VM's. Uptime approx. 1 month and Rock solid.
What Kind of Storage Controller do You use?
I'm not sure if this behavior is related to Proxmox itself. It is more a Windows Problem. I read in several Technology Blogs, that Microsoft has generic Update issues (overloaded Update Servers) with the Fall Update.
Anything better than P410 works. Example P440. Or a third partie controller from LSI. Check the HP Site, what Would fit for your Server. You can keep the backplane in Most of the cases.
We've had Similar issues which we solved by replacing the P410 with better controllers. The P410 is known as a low performer if it comes to virtualization.
I Propose to compile the Realtek driver from source. i had the Same issues Month ago. With a fresh Compiled driver you will reach better Performance.
On the otherside i Need to say that Realtek nic's are Not recommended to use with Proxmox. if possible go and get an Intel NIC.
