I'm hoping you can help me out. I can't for the life of me get proxmox to connect to a remote ceph cluster. I've followed all of the steps several times. But I keep getting this error: rbd error: rbd: couldn't connect to the cluster! (500). I've read several posts where this was...
That seems to be the common consensus. Obviously we'll build the NAS to be as reliable as possible, but it seems like the component that would be the single point of failure to the entire cluster should be redundant.
Thanks Mir. Napp-it looks like another good option. We've had it running on our labs, but never put it into production. Do you run it in production with OpenVZ or LXC?
We've used both FreeNas and Nas4Free. Both have been solid. I also helped a buddy deploy an IXSystems solution in a DC and those guys were great to work with.

Thank Hec. Another wrinkle. We don't need large IO, and we don't need a lot of space. We only need 6 - 10TB tops. We talked to NetApp and Dell and their solutions are awesome. They have the features and reliability that we need, but they aren't really priced well for small storage/redundant...
I'm with you 100%. That's one of the problems we're facing. We really need minimal performance, but we want to deploy redundant SAN's because we'll get over 80 support calls because of a 10 minute outage.
Ha ha. Yes each CT is very basic. 512MB of Ram and 8 gigs of hard drive. Nearly 0 CPU usage. We need a lot of containers, and they need to be very reliable, but the performance requirements are minimal.

There are 3 nodes in each data center. We don't need any synchronizing/failover between data centers...
