OpenWrt VM: reboot, shutdown not working

So I tried it... After disabling qemu-ga in VM options reboot and shutdown work just fine! I also uninstalled the acpid package in OpenWrt and it still worked. 1. Is there a bug in the qemu-ga? 2. Should I reinstall the acpid in OpenWrt or is it obsolete?

OpenWrt VM: reboot, shutdown not working

So you mean I should disable the QEMU guest agent in the VM options?

OpenWrt VM: reboot, shutdown not working

this is the config file for the acpi daemon. # This is a sample ACPID configuration event=button/power.* action=/sbin/poweroff I guess I will need to configure the reboot function, am I right? I can't try the shutdown command, because I currently don't have physical access to the node. (By...

OpenWrt VM: reboot, shutdown not working

I have successfully setup an OpenWrt VM on my proxmox node. The only issue I have left are the acpid commands to shutdown / reboot the VM from proxmox-ui. I always get "TASK ERROR: VM quit/powerdown failed - got timeout" if I try to reboot it. When trying to reboot the whole node I get "VM...

External USB HDD for multiple VMs

Sadly the DLNA client is only able to access drives mounted in OpenWrt, so I will need to stick to its Samba share. But thanks for the input!! I hope something like this (Shared USB drives for multiple VMs / virtual-mounpoint for USB drives that you can add to multiple VMs) will be available in...

External USB HDD for multiple VMs

Sadly that is not an option for me as I would like to also use it with any Windows PC, thus the need for NTFS. I guess my only option then is to always attach it to my OpenWrt VM and grant r/w access to it for my Download-VM via the SMB share, right?

External USB HDD for multiple VMs

The drive is already formated as an NTFS volume with lots of files on it. Is it possible to mount this volume to two VMs at the same time, so both VMs can read/write data to it synchronous?

External USB HDD for multiple VMs

    Necessary CPU flags

I now figured out that the only possible flags for my system are "spec-ctrl" and "aes". I will stick with the kvm64 CPU because of compatibility.

    Necessary CPU flags

So pve behaves is differently than real systems where you could get some troubles, f.e. switching from an Intel to an AMD CPU? Lets say one day I replace my Intel pve-system with one that is powered by an AMD CPU. I just install proxmox again, configure it like before, import all the VMs and...

    Necessary CPU flags

But this would mean that I will be unable to export / import these VMs on other Nodes with a different CPU. If I understood the wiki correctly. "This has a downside though. If you want to do a live migration of VMs between different hosts, your VM might end up on a new system with a different...

    Necessary CPU flags

Hello, after reading trough the whole Proxmox Wiki to get the best VM settings for my needs, the only thing left are the required / necessary CPU flags. [SOLVED] Optimal BIOS settings for virtualization

@MrBruce I know that this is a very low power CPU. I am only planning to run 1 Linux distro (for downloading) on it and OpenWrt. Nothing more. I installed 16 GB RAM and placed a large fan on top of the alu case. During a stress test, temps didn't go any higher than 40°C. It also has 2 SSDs: 32...
