I've been running a few guest VM with gpu passthrough ubuntu 16.04 and Fedora 27 recently. But from time to time when I start the VMs they do not boot correctly from the attached hard disk (I get a blank screen) and some times get the grub menu from the CD ROM image of the installation media...

To fix this pulseaudio issue with Linux guests need to add: /etc/modprobe.d/snd-hda-intel.conf with: options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1
