Ok, the OS of my VM with the issue was RedHat AS 4. Would it hurt to have this setting in place for all VMs?

I had this problem, and the above fixed it. There was only one VM affected by this issue. What is the side effect of making this modification? If there isn't one, shouldn't this always be in place for all VMs?
