    ICH10 erratic sata speed

OK. I installed an older wd2500ks 250GB sata drive internally and the results are a bit slow, but I am fairly certain that my old backup drive or caddy is going bad. CPU BOGOMIPS: 42558.71 REGEX/SECOND: 966191 HD SIZE: 229.23 GB (/dev/sdd1) BUFFERED READS: 58.00 MB/sec...

    ICH10 erratic sata speed

Here is the quick answer running pveperf on the backup drive mounted as /mnt/backup. I ran it three times back to back to show the variation. I will have to figure out how to run bonnie++ for the other part. proxmox:~# pveperf /mnt/backup/ CPU BOGOMIPS: 42558.71 REGEX/SECOND: 965905...

    ICH10 erratic sata speed

I am running Proxmox v1.8 on my Supermicro x8sax. The system boots off an Intel RAID controller and the Virtual Machines are on an LSI logic SATA RAID controller. These are working fine. My problem is a Seagate 500GB SATA drive that I have plugged into one of the onboard ICH10 SATA ports. I...

Upgrade to 1.6 and new Kernel - Server can't find volumes

The new kernel is working for me as well. When will this update make it into the repository, or has it already? Thanks for the great support!

Upgrade to 1.6 and new Kernel - Server can't find volumes

    Below is my /etc/fstab file. As you can see I am using disk labels to identify my drives so which drive is assigned sda or sdb doesn't matter. proxmox:~# cat /etc/fstab # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass> /dev/pve/root / ext3 errors=remount-ro 0 1 /dev/pve/data...

Upgrade to 1.6 and new Kernel - Server can't find volumes

I don't understand why this would help. It seems to me that the modules are already loaded but the system isn't activating the lvm's. Is LVM running before the Intel SCSI controller module is loaded?

Upgrade to 1.6 and new Kernel - Server can't find volumes

When I upgraded to the 2.6.32 kernel it uninstalled the 2.6.24 so I had no other kernel to choose at boot. I removed the LSI MegaRaid card and booted with only the Intel SCSI Raid card and it still didn't work; so I don't know what that means about the two controller theory because the...

Upgrade to 1.6 and new Kernel - Server can't find volumes

Well, I got mine back up and running by downgrading to the 2.6.24 kernel. Here is what I did... Boot up using a Debian Lenny network install CD Select Advanced > Rescue mode at the boot prompt The system will guide you and request that you set up networking (Do this) When prompted, select...

Upgrade to 1.6 and new Kernel - Server can't find volumes

Yes, I do have more than one RAID controller. I have and Intel SCSI controller with a mirror for the boot drive and then I have an LSI MegaRaid controller witha Raid5 on it for the VM's. I have had a problem in the past where the BIOS was set to boot the Intel controller but once the Kernel...

Upgrade to 1.6 and new Kernel - Server can't find volumes

I am having the same problem. I just upgraded from 1.5 to 1.6 and I get the "/dev/mapper/pve-root does not exist" error on boot up. I ran the lvm command at the (initramfs) prompt and then ran lvscan. It couldn't find any lvm's. Then I ran vgscan and it found my volume groups. After that I...

    Information about advanced storage pools

I guess what I was wondering is if the "Advanced storage pools" feature in the upcoming version would allow me to create a cluster of two Proxmox VE servers, Server A and Server B. On Server A, I would like to set up a couple of virtual machines and have their storage mirrored to server B for...

Running Promox on Intel 5520 or Intel 5500 series

I don't know what sort of problems you are referring to but I have installed Proxmox VE on a Supermicro X8SAX motheroard with an I7-920 processor. Not exactly a xeon 5500 but they are in the same processor family. I am using an older Intel SCSI RAID controller with a pair of 32GB SCSI disks to...
