Restore - how to and what's required?

If I just type mount at the prompt I get a screen full of stuff, paths, etc. that don't mean anything to me. The last line reads "192.168.xxx.xxx:/mnt/pools/A/AO/Backups on /mnt/pve/Iomega type of nfs (rw,addr=192.168.xxx.xxx)" So I take it from that last line that it must have the NFS share...

Restore - how to and what's required?

Will I be able to restore a 1.9 backup with 2.0? Since I'm just trying to do a practice run at this point, perhaps I should install 2.0 on the test machine and give it a try. I'm not really testing the Beta 2.0 as much as I am trying to learn how to do things before it's a crisis...

Restore - how to and what's required?

Doing a practice restore so when things go bad, perhaps they won't go AS bad. Still wishing there was a restore on the GUI as a backup isn't of much value without the ability to restore from that backup. Logged onto Proxmox2 (new box) running 1.9 created from the ISO. #mkdir /restore no...

Restore - how to and what's required?

The command line is not evil, but I'm new to Linux and therefore don't know any commands. Back in the day I knew DOS but that was a long time ago. I need to learn. OK, so I need to get new hardware to keep around in case I need to restore. I'll have to go buy it. One thing you said...

Restore - how to and what's required?

I have a Proxmox 1.9 system with a Windows 2008 VM running on it in KVM mode. I thought I'd familiarize myself with the restore process so I'm not in too much of a panic when the time comes that it's needed. Assuming a hardware failure I'd like to be able to restore the VM and get it up and...

It's not just spam prevention however the amount of smtp attacks and the amount of spam take a drastic cut when you block out all those places. I mean really, I don't need another African email telling me my dead relative left me millions and I only need to pay his attorney's fees and it's all...

    Can't remove VM

OK. Did the updates without any issues. Held my breath the entire time. I think I'm still holding it. <g> I was then able to delete the VM using the drop down menu and selecting remove. Things seem to be "normal" again. Thank you for your patience Tom. I appreciate it, and I...

    Can't remove VM

I did install it from the 1.9 ISO. Another guy who uses Proxmox all the time was here and he may have made changes to it once it was installed. I'm not sure what he did. I see he's listed here on the forum as a Senior Member but I won't list his name. I'll do the suggested changes in the Wiki...

    Can't remove VM

Tom, My ignorance is showing. I'm new to this. I'd installed Proxmox from an ISO install and it reports that it's running Proxmox Virtual Environment 1.9 on the top of the Proxmox GUI. You're saying the version I installed a few weeks ago is out of date and that's why I can't delete a VM...

How many countries does the forum use to send emails? I would expect a single mail server for the forums. Blocking countries where we don't do business greatly reduces our spam and keeps our servers from many attacks.

What steps are needed to backup VM?

Yesterday after it succeeded I changed the time back to 02:00 I'd like to report that it DID run successfully. Again, not sure why it's willing to work now when it wouldn't before, but it's working now and I'm happy.

Ah! Yes, that makes perfect sense. If the emails are coming from France then yes, they'd be blocked by pfsense. I'll try unblocking France and see if that does the trick. I didn't realize they were coming from there. Sorry.

I never get notified that there's been a reply to a forum topic I've subscribed to. I've double checked to make sure that I'm actually subscribed. And I've checked my profile to make sure it's set to send me an email notification immediately. and I've checked my email address. I've even...

Access to shared hardware such as CD-ROM drives

I know this has been requested before, and for all I know it's impossibly hard to implement but since you're asking what I'd like to see, I'll cast my vote. I would still like to see better support for devices such as USB devices and CD-ROM drives. When I have software updates for my Windows...

What steps are needed to backup VM?

As reported a few min. ago I reset the time so I could get the log file. The only change I made was to set the backup time in the backup set. It appears to be backing up! At least there are files now in the destination folder on the Iomega drive. They're tmp files and dat files, but they're...
