Proxmox Host Console over Serial Port

Thank you for the instructions! I will certainly give this a try when I have some time. Just a couple of questions to clarify: - I assume this configuration won't remove the standard video output to the GPU - E.G if I mess up the serial console, I still have video output (and of course network...

Proxmox Host Console over Serial Port

I have a Proxmox server with a single discrete GPU, and the CPU does not have an iGPU - the only video output from the box is via the discrete GPU. And I want to pass it through to a VM. Which leaves me in the precarious position that if, for example, I misconfigured Proxmox in the Web UI, and...

Proper way to install Proxmox in UEFI mode.

I have managed to configure Intel AMT and gain access over the network, however, due the the absence of an iGPU, there is no framebuffer for AMT to capture, so no remote video console... I was hoping I would be able to interact with the BIOS over the network even if GPU video output was not...

Proper way to install Proxmox in UEFI mode.

I would expect so - however, Secure Boot seems to default to off, and I am happy to leave it at that for now. I reset the CMOS again to regain access to the BIOS. Then, the first thing I did was attempt to setup Intel AMT, thinking this would be helpful in this whole process. Firstly, I ran...

Proper way to install Proxmox in UEFI mode.

I think Proxmox should be able to work with secure boot enabled. Fast boot and ultra fast boot sometimes does quirky things. Like MSI messing it up. Or like Ultra fast boot not working on older GPUs and USB not being initialized before boot. Retry again, with - boot mode UEFI only - Quick...

Troubleshooting: Intel A310 GPU/Audio passthrough to VM works; GPU crashes after VM shutdown, reboot needed

Hi Karol, thanks for your reply. I added the section you mentioned to my hookscript. Sadly, it didn't do anything in regards to the GPU crashing after VM shutdown. The dmesg output states the reset was done but the lspci -vnn -s 03:00.0 suggests the GPU has crashed again. I tried to fiddle...

[TUTORIAL] Ubuntu LXC CT setup with device passthrough on Proxmox VE 8.4 for Frigate installation

Hello, I have similar issue and to solve that I use this script to modify the the container settings at pve boot (before the containers start): #!/bin/bash # Path to the LXC config file CONFIG_FILE="/etc/pve/lxc/200.conf" CONFIG_FIL2="/etc/pve/lxc/400.conf" # Get the first available card...

    GMKTEC K12 | Ryzen 7 H 255 | Problem with IGPU

You know what, I uploaded the latest BIOS from December and extracted both the VBIOS and ROM from it, so that should help you. Additionally, try uploading Parsec, but for the entire system, not just for the user + the virtual display. My monitor is connected via an HDMI to VGA adapter because...

Proper way to install Proxmox in UEFI mode.

I think I do understand this reasonably OK. I never said I expected it to boot UEFI when in Legacy First mode :). Just when I first test-installed PVE on the server, I forgot to check the boot mode. I know PVE can boot in Legacy mode, but as I explained earlier, I would rather UEFI if possibly...

    GMKTEC K12 | Ryzen 7 H 255 | Problem with IGPU

I'll tell you something strange. When I bought the GMKTEC K12, I had igpu and audio set to 0000:06:00 and 0000:06:00, and I think the BIOS was from September. You sent me that link to the BIOS, because I couldn't find it for the life of me. I did an update on Windows, and thanks to you, I also...

Proper way to install Proxmox in UEFI mode.

I am using a 3060 on my gaming rig that does not even have the OpROM option in BIOS. I am not using any GPU on my Supermicro servers but IPMI ASPEED. Yeah, lets try one step after another. - Go into BIOS - Enable UEFI only - Disable CSM - Disable OpROM - Disable PXE - Set the boot order to...

Troubleshooting: Intel A310 GPU/Audio passthrough to VM works; GPU crashes after VM shutdown, reboot needed

I started using Proxmox some days ago and put a considerable amount of hours into trying to get my Intel A310 GPU to work properly for passthrough to a VM, or, to be more precise: to hand it back to the system after the VM is shutdown. I am a Linux novice as well but learned a lot these past...

Proper way to install Proxmox in UEFI mode.

Your missing GPU display output is completely untelated to the systems' ability to perform a full UEFI boot. And if you set your system to boot Legacy-first, then why should it boot Proxmox in UEFI mode? The Proxmox installer can perform a Legacy boot. So it simply does and installs that way...

Proper way to install Proxmox in UEFI mode.

OK, that's interesting. This is the first time I have even heard of OpROM to be fair. Yes, dedicated GPU, no integrated CPU in this server. Its a NVIDIA Quadro, will have to check on the exact model. Thing is, the video output is set to legacy, and when trying to boot in UEFI mode, I still get...

Proper way to install Proxmox in UEFI mode.

OK - I will experiment with disabling fast boot, as well as putting OpROMs to disabled, all though I suspect in doing so I will loose access to my firmware configuration, because my server doesn't have an integrated GPU. (Does have a serial port, but I don't think it can output BIOS screens to...

Proper way to install Proxmox in UEFI mode.

On my supermicro I can disable all OpROMs, but I don't have a GPU, so unfortunately I also don't know. Maybe try to disable fast boot, this is known to cause issues with Linux, especially the MSI implementation of it.

Proper way to install Proxmox in UEFI mode.

OK. I will try this again when I have physical access to the box again. The last I tried, I put Video OpROM to UEFI (it was legacy), and lost all video output - had to reset it back to gain access even to the firmware configuration. I am not too familiar with OpROM's, I can't remember if there...
