Windows 11 VM IO drops to 0Mbit

Are you using ZFS on drives with QLC flash memory? That can become really, really slow on sustained writes.

    Neue Server Hardware.

QLC SSDs ziemlich...

    To ZFS or not

ZFS/PVE requires you to fix stuff via CLI where a typo will wipe all data on that pool. Would recommend to use something else like TrueNAS if you don't want to spend some hours/days to learn how to properly administrate it. There are some old Supermicro MiniPCs that got ECC but you probably...

    Proxmox increase ZFS pool

And keep in mind that you are using QLC consumer SSDs. Terrible choice for a ZFS pool. My PVE already killed multiple of those. ;) What I would do is destroying that pool, use both as LVM-Thin without raid as single disk and make sure to have proper backups (like getting a dedicated server for...

    [SOLVED] Can't install proxmox (8.2 or 7.4)

As I said I tried nomodeset, and I forgot to say but I tried both installer graphical and terminal when I was trying to install 8.2 (also tried with and without GPU card), since when I first tried I had a blackscreen after starting the installation.

    [SOLVED] Can't install proxmox (8.2 or 7.4)

You probably need something like nomodeset (which seems to have helped in other threads on this forum) or try the new non-graphical installer of PVE 8.2 (or both). Please be aware that the Crucial P3 uses QLC flash memory and might wear out quickly with Proxmox and be unusable slow when VMs...

    I/O performance for heavy workload

So, I checked and I have two identical 1TB Crucial MX500 disks which seem to have "Micron 256Gb 64-layer 3D TLC". I am not sure how bad these are compared to other SATA models of their time, but clearly are not up-to-par currently... I think I have the following two problems: I have set up a...

SSD Samsung 990 Evo Failed Status

You explain basically exactly the issues here, with 990 Pro's "explore the firmware question" -> Newest firmware doesn't change anything, they maybe fail slightly later. I thought updating helps too. "indicator is only 1-2 %" -> Correct, here either, they still fail. "temperature higher than...

SSD Samsung 990 Evo Failed Status

    > All consumer SSDs are not suitable for use with ZFS. Welllllll.... there's maybe some exceptions to "all" here. At least for homelab. Can only speak for myself, but the Lexar 1TB NM790 nvme that I've had running 24/7 in my Qotom pve since Feb is still at 0% wear, and reasonably fast with...

    (Developer) question about .chunk folder

Please carefully read the test. We are not benchmarking the "disk io" that is just an additional information. It's not about the speed of the disk - it's about the speed of the filesystem. What will you gain in a multipass? We see the local filesystem is 1.2seconds (for 65536 directories) -...

    (Developer) question about .chunk folder

note that i know that benchmarking storage is hard and error prone, but that has to be correctly done to produce results that are usable: i looked over the code and the results a bit and a few things stand out that might be not showing the full or correct picture: about the methodology: * i'd...

    iowait reduzieren

    SSD slow read and write

Mostly yes, but you suggested QVO drives, which are really bad for ZFS because of the QLC.

    SSD slow read and write

The original post states that the current Crucial MX500 drives are for Proxmox with 1TB Samsung Pro 860 drives handling the storage. Proxmox installs to LVM and has a light load on its disks unless you decide to try and oversize SWAP so that it has to page memory like mad.

    SSD slow read and write

Please search the forum for QLC drives and ZFS. People get really upset when they find out the money was wasted. And then they ask about good drives and you'll also find recommendations about (second-hand) enterprise drives with PLP.

Proxmox VE 8.2.2 - High IO delay

I am observing some very high (>40%, sometimes 80%) IO Delay on Proxmox VE 8.2.2 with pve-no-subscription Repository. Looking at some Posts over this Forum, this may be due to not using Enterprise-Grade SSD, although to be honest I don't necessarily "buy" this justification. I am using Crucial...
