How to realize this backup concept

Hello. I don't know if it would work for passed-through devices... but maybe one could use UUIDs (from blkid) instead of /dev/sdb? Like it's advised to do in /etc/fstab entries.

My first Proxmox-install: How to best set up the disks given beginner's hardware limitations?

E.g. for flexibility. Not quite. You can later swapoff, change its size, mkswap, swapon. Again, for flexibility. Yon can later change your mind, remove the swap LV, make it elsewhere and use the released space for something else. As above. BTW, you can occupy a VG gradually. I.e., not give...

My first Proxmox-install: How to best set up the disks given beginner's hardware limitations?

Not splitting the VG in fact. The original VG (called "pve") should still use only the first disk (SSD in your setup). And the second disk (HDD in your setup) is to be used for the second VG (you can call it whatever you want, e.g. vg2). Sorry, I forgot you also wanted to move swap to the HDD...

[SOLVED] Wrong time in PVE and Proxmox Mail Gateway GUI

I've searched the web and especially the Forum archives. Posts confirm that the GUI uses the client time. I have also found it can be a browser issue. Anyway, just in case make sure that the "BIOS time" in the PVE host is set to UTC. P.S. (For clarity): when asking for the time(zone) of your...

My first Proxmox-install: How to best set up the disks given beginner's hardware limitations?

Welcome to the Forum, @trollbot13 ! Be warned that I'm not an expert ;-). I don't remember if the installer allows this (you'd have to enter the "Advanced options" and see). If not, after installing you can remove the thin-pool LV (called data) and extend the root LV and use it e.g. for...

[SOLVED] Wrong time in PVE and Proxmox Mail Gateway GUI

Hi. I'm _not_ saying this is the case in PVE and PMG GUIs (I don't know), but some web tools use the time(zone) from the visitor's PC. Does your PC have the correct time(zone)?

    [SOLVED] Login Proxmox not working

Hi, @N33T . I guess you're talking about logging in the web GUI (https://ip.ad.dr.ess:8006). In the 3rd line of the login form (named "Realm") there's a drop-down menu. Sometimes it is auto-selecting "Proxmox VE authentication server" instead of "Linux PAM standard authentication" in which of...

Partial upgrade failure 8.4 to 9

Hi, @djh_au. If you have no subscription, you can't use "enterprise" repositories. Instead of them, configure "Proxmox VE No-Subscription Repository": https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/pve-admin-guide.html#sysadmin_no_subscription_repo "We recommend to configure this repository...

Hi, @Zoker! Would you mind writing what, exactly, were these 13337 and 11328 processes? It can be helpful for other users in future.

[SOLVED] Proxmox 9.0.11 randomly freezes with no logs

Hi. I'm not stating that RAM is the reason, but issues from faulty RAM happen unpredictable. So it's worth to check it with Memtest for a night or more anyway.

Not able to access promox 9 gui from webbrowser after fresh installation

Strange. The most frequent reason of this particular error is installing some amateur scripts for removing "nag screen". Anyway... Try: apt install --reinstall proxmox-widget-toolkit systemctl restart pveproxy

raid5 and 2 logical disk included in one zfs pool

Well, "Do not use ZFS on top of a hardware RAID controller which has its own cache management. ZFS needs to communicate directly with the disks. An HBA adapter or something like an LSI controller flashed in “IT” mode is more appropriate." ( https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/ZFS_on_Linux )...

Whats happends to Emails, when target Mailserver is offline ?

Hello. Unless messages to the "server on premise" are treated a special way, they wiil be queued for "maximal_queue_lifetime" (default: 5d).
