hardware raid controller (HPE smart array) and ZFS

Hi,

ZFS on top of HPE Smart Array hardware RAID is strongly discouraged, is it safe if I use the disks as raid0?
Are there known cases of data corruption caused by RAID5 / ZFS setup?

Yes. A single raid puncture will screw your data. Just do what the developers tell you and don't use it.

it is the HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10. It says it supports Mixed Mode operations of RAID and HBA simultaneously. Should I trust that?

As long as ZFS sees the HBA disks, that's what I would use.

The OS will see hardware RAID0 as a single big "disk", so no, it's not a proper way for ZFS.
