Proxmox issue RTX2080Ti and RTX5090

Dear all,
I am passing my GPUs to an Ubuntu 24.04 virtual machine. Everything works so far, with two RTX 2080Ti or RTX 2080Ti + Rx9700. However, when adding an RTX 5090 alongside an RTX 2080Ti, the RTX 2080Ti no longer works. with this error:

In the last two days, I've already tried different options and suggestions, e.g. changing the BIOS type or adding an argument. I also reinstalled Ubuntu and tried different drivers, but nothing has worked so far. Your help is appreciated!

Hello idhamari! You might be already aware of our wiki page on PCI Passthrough, which explains exactly the error you have encountered. However, you are using CPU type host and SeaBIOS, which should usually work. Still, have you already tried using OVMF and setting X-PciMmio64Mb, as explained in our guide?
 
Thank you, Laurențiu, for your reply. Yes, I already tried that and got the same error. I spent three days trying different solutions from here and from AI, but nothing has worked so far. It is strange because my older two RTX2080Ti work fine, and RTX2080Ti + AMD R9700 32GB also work fine.
 
As you are probably aware, GPU passthrough is never guaranteed to work, as it depends on the hardware and several factors. We can still try to see whether we can get it work, though - just keep in mind that it is not guaranteed to work. You mentioned that using only one GPU, or even two different GPUs, works without issues, so I would expect the general setup to be fine - but let's check everything, just to be sure.

Could you please tell us:
  1. The model of the motherboard / server.
  2. The BIOS version (you can check dmidecode -t bios on the PVE host).
  3. The exact model of the two GPUs (including manufacturer).
  4. The output of dmesg | grep -e DMAR -e IOMMU -e AMD-Vi on the PVE host.
  5. The output of pvesh get /nodes/{nodename}/hardware/pci --pci-class-blacklist "" on the PVE host.
  6. The output of lspci -nnk from the PVE host.
  7. Please check out our guide regarding the recommended BIOS options, and please let us know how they are currently set.

I would expect most of the above commands to not show anything unusual, since GPU passthrough already works with other GPUs - but let's see.
 
Thank you for your quick reply. I understand your point. So far, I have been able to get GPU passthrough working for all previous scenarios. Even with the new GPU upgrade to an RTX 5090, it still works. It is just strange that these two GPUs can not work. I also tried different physical slots. I tried attaching the old GPU to a different VM, but that also did not work.
The GPUS are:
  1. GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5090 GAMING OC 32G
  2. MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti VENTUS GP
