A few questions about Backup

I’m in the process of learning Proxmox for our business, mainly due to the increasing costs of ESXi.

1. Configuration Backup
   
   In the event of a host failure, what is the recommended process to back up the Proxmox configuration so that it can be restored after a reinstall? Ideally, I’d like to back up the configuration to an external drive, independent of the Proxmox system storage, to protect against a total host crash.

While I understand the basics of adding disks to a VM, I’m looking for guidance on handling full arrays and ensuring configuration resilience before moving on to setting up HA across multiple hosts.

Filebackup of the host. Especially /etc/pve for pve specific configuration, large part of it is handled by cluster, but something is node dependent (example: certificates).
Search forum at least.

There are also many youtube tutorials but they are mainly targeting homelabs.
