PVE new feature from PBS?

I installed Proxmox Backup Server a while ago. I don't use it anymore, but I remember it had a feature I found extremely useful!I remember that from the PBS web interface, you could browse (and maybe edit or extract, I don't remember exactly) the files in the backups.

I think this feature would be very useful in Proxmox VE.
Any possibility of implementing it?

On PBS you have it for file-based backups (host, CT).
On PVE you have that as well, if the backup storage is a PBS. Then you can do that even for VM backups (given that the FS is supported)

It would be nice if there was something similar in PVE to be able to access the data of the VMs or CTs currently running on a PVE node, without having to run PBS.
