Prune Schedule Advice for Home/Small Office PBS?

Hello,

Let me preface this by saying I have about 2x-3x as much usable space on my PBS server as I actually need based on my retention policy, so I'm not worried about running out of space.

That said, how often is it recommended to prune a PBS server used in a small office environment?
I've currently got it set up like this:

• Prune: hourly
• Keep: 7 Daily, 3 monthly, 4 weekly (this is overkill. I have a lot of free space).

Prune jobs take literal seconds to run. Is there any reason not to run them hourly?

That purely depends on the need to "go back to $date", so ask the office owner if "not possible to restore data from four months ago" is acceptable (or possibly required, because of $policy).

At home I keep multiple yearly backups. For my $dayjob I have to obey data retention rules / GDPR.

Basically no. But for what advantage???

Empty space is wasted space. I tend to keep so many old backup as fit below the "under 80% full" rule
