Hardware: HP DL380 Gen10 and SAS drives

I known that It isn't the better site for questions like this, but I spend various weeks without solutions and I'll being crazy with this issue...

We have a HP Proliant DL380 Gen10 with HPE Smart Array P408i SR and HPE DL38X Gen10 4-port 8 NVMe Primary slim SAS FIO riser. We have various Toshiba AL14SEB120N SAS hard drives that It's unrecognized by the server in any slots. For testing purpose I tried with some SATA HDD/SSD that has been recognized correctly by the server into SATA slots but none the SAS drives in either controllers. I tested the Toshiba disk in other Dell server that we have and It's recognized successfully but It's impossible in the new one.

By default, SATA controller is setting to AHCI and I tried to change to Smart Array, S100i SR Gen10, with the same results. I can see the eight NVMe ports through iLO interface but nothing into the Smart Storage Administrator, Toshiba SAS drives aren't recognized in whatever slots I use.

iLO is up to date and the firmware of the controller too. Someone could help me or put me in the right direction? I need install something? I need to make some change into RBSU?

Hi!
You need to connect the "HPE DL38X Gen10 4-port 8 NVMe Primary slim SAS FIO riser." cables to U3 type backplane ( server front side ) to use the SAS disks. You have U2 type backplane in front of the Server, thats why not working.

You cannot use U2 type backplane with SAS/SATA drives,
U2 type backplane is for NVME disks only, even if the SAS/NVME disk connector is the same/identical.

U3 type backplane is compatible with NVME/SAS/SATA drives.
U2 type backplane is compatible with NVME drives.
SAS type backplane is compatible with SAS/SATA drives.
