Hello,

I want to transfer Microsoft Server VMs from VMware to Proxmox.
I follow the same procedure as with Linux machines, which work correctly.
However, for Windows Server machines, the VM restoration works properly, but when starting the VM, I get the following:

None of the proposed options work. I tried checking if the disk drive was properly detected with WinPE, and it doesn't recognize anything.
Here is the configuration after restoration (Windows Server 2016):

Can you help me ?

Thank you

Hi,
you need to install the VirtIO Drivers on Windows.

In your case, set the Storage Device from SCSI to SATA or IDE,
add a additional Drive with e.g. 5 GB and set the Device type to SCSI.

Reboot your VM and you should Boot into Windows, then install the VirtIO Drivers and you should be able to use the SCSI drive afterwards.
After the Installation of the VirtIO Drivers shutdown your VM and delete the additional SCSI Drive you just created and set the main Drive back to SCSI.

Now you should be able to Boot into your VM.

Troubleshooting:
If your VM won't boot even when you set the Drive to SATA or IDE, you may need to set the SCSI Controller to VMware PVSCSI then the VM should boot with SATA or SCSI.

If you run into any issue pleas let us know.
