[SOLVED] ceph 17.2.8 general availability?

Hi,
I think I'm hit by ceph allocator bugs fixed in 17.2.8, so I would like to upgrade, but this ceph release is in testing since November, 24th.
Is there an estimate when it will be available in the ceph-quincy no-subscription repo?

Hello elelayan! Ceph 17.2.8 is now be available for PVE 8 in the no-subscription repo.

You probably know already, but keep in mind that Ceph 17 is no longer maintained since January 2025, so please consider upgrading to Ceph 18 or 19. The wiki pages on Ceph Quincy to Reef (and optionally Ceph Reef to Squid) will help with that.

Yes I've planned the upgrade to Reef but it's not a priority for me right now.

FYI we were hit by osd crashes: https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/69764 15-30 minutes after updating OSDs. 2 OSDs out of 10 crashed.

Thanks for the report! Due to the fact that there's no ETA from the upstream Ceph repository (especially because version 17 is EOL), we have cherry picked the fix ourselves and released the new version 17.2.8-pve2. It is currently available in the test repository. Note that it can take a bit until it is available on all CDN nodes.

Could you please confirm whether the new version fixes your issues? Thanks!

Thanks for the amazing speed releasing a fix!
We have rollbacked to 17.2.7 to save the day and have decided to upgrade to 18.2.4 next week.
Not sure if we can test before the upgrade.

We applied 17.2.8-pve2 Yesterday to our cluster: 19 hour uptime without any crash.
I'd say the patch is solid and fixes the issue.
