Well currently 6.8 isn't building with 535 currently but I also haven't tried uninstalling and then reinstalling it like I mentioned before

Just to recap 1. you uninstalled the current nvidia drivers 2. then you ran the upgrade as normal 3. rebooted into new kernel 4. ran the .run 550 drivers under new kernel? And everything was fine afterwards?
