I know otherwise you wouldn't have asked in the first place ;) I just want to know why because imho PBS is best for vm/lxc backzups but not so much for file backups since you need a running PBS for restore. For the stuff on my notebook I want to...
Do you have a specific reason to use this "ancient" release?
If not... please upgrade to (non-subscription):
~# pveversion
pve-manager/9.1.6/71482d1833ded40a (running kernel: 6.17.13-1-pve)
@ChrisBozeman I work with plenty of Windows machines - thousands of them - you know what I’m not worried about - 5% CPU usage at idle. This entire thread is for homelabbers worried about their power bill. If I have a 5% power increase after a...
Thanks to Pouch6867 for sharing your script. Until Proxmox introduces a built-in feature for serialized/sequential cluster backups, writing our own scripts is indeed a very practical approach to prevent storage or network congestion.

As I said: I agree that it's a good idea to disable root access via ssh to the qdevice. I think it's even better to have a dedicated environment for it, however you set it up ;)
Its more bad as you think!
There is only one NVMe mirror as Special Device, so you can loos everythink, you have no second oder third Dive on your Special Device!
Use a Special Device als ZFS Mirror Device with N >= 2 Device.
Usually the relevant .iso has been downloaded to (and is stored on) the same PC where I am using the web browser for iDrac on = my local PC.
The whole point of this mechanism is that the .iso is not copied to the server ahead of (boot-) time but...
A single vdev? That's worst case - there is no way no make it slower than that! (Even a RaidZ3 has the same IOPS = same speed...)
My recommendation would have been 7*mirrors --> seven times the IOPS of that construct...
Sorry, I have no trivial...
Find out yourself with your hardware:
apt install sysstat
Start two terminals:
iostat -dx 2
top -H
Increase readers until the load on iostat for every disk is ~90% (or some lower limit to leave headroom for other activities on the same zpool)...
You may want to enable "Backup fleecing", which directs writes during the backup to a local fast image to avoid slowing down guests: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Backup_and_Restore#_backup_modes
While it's surely a good idea to disable ssh login for root I still think that for even better isolation of the qdevice a setup like the one described by @aaron here is to be oreffered...
Hi Henry,
I think the main point of confusion here is that `pvecm nodes` does not necessarily show every configured cluster node. It only shows the currently active membership, so an offline/dead node not appearing there does not mean it was...
The Quorum Device cannot access the cluster via ssh.
The cluster can access the Quorum Device - until you remove the rights granted during installation...
We did not verify this at that time.
I did it now, a few months later: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/fabu-how-to-setup-a-quorum-device-and-secure-it-by-disabling-root-access.181525/
