I have a few Ubuntu VMs I use in interactive mode on the console. I've been running older, obsolete versions of Ubuntu because whenever I try to upgrade / rebuild with a new VM, I get stuck with the same issue.
To reproduce (for me at least):
- Install Ubuntu on Promox VM...

I'm still not straight on the precise details of why...
I've set up a new zfs pool like so:
root@hydrox:/mnt# zpool create -m /mnt/droxcamstorage droxcamstorage raidz2 /dev/sdd /dev/sde /dev/sdf /dev/sdg /dev/sdh
root@hydrox:/mnt# zpool status
pool: droxcamstorage
state: ONLINE
scan: none requested
config:
NAME STATE READ...
I figured out what I was missing - I needed to use parted to actually resize the partition. So, something like this in the end - I'm reconstructing because there were a lot of experiments.
# Set autoexpand on for relevant zpool
zpool set autoexpand=on rpool
# Take one drive off line
zpool...
When installing Proxmox VE 6.2 I deliberately omitted half the drive space of a pair of mirrored 1 TB SSDs, so that I now have only ~500 GB.
