    Network Interfaces name is nivalid

I had the same problem with one of my servers, you can manually rename the interfaces: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/proxmox-5-ethernet-issues.35556/

some one just hacked my proxmox box

"PermitRootLogin without-password" is actually the default setting for Debian, fyi. Yes, would definitely make sense to do it another way, perhaps using a REST API or something simple. At the very least, add a warning to the console. Permitting root login exposed is a seriously bad idea, but...

Fair enough, however you can use the following, which will still allow key-based authentication: PermitRootLogin without-password

    3 node cluster setup recommendations

I'm currently building a 3-node cluster myself, except I purchased all used equipment for peanuts (Supermicro dual 8-core E5-2670 , 64GB DDR3). For the pve host drive itself, you can use NVME PCI-E card, or use a PCI-E to M.2 adapter. The PCI-E slot will power the drive. You can find them...

    Proxmox 4.2 with pfSense 2.2.6

The pre-up command would absolutely work assuming that command actually changes the mac. I haven't tried it myself, but this would definitely be another workaround assuming the NIC accepts the command. I never had a compelling reason to change mac addresses on a linux machine. If that command...

some one just hacked my proxmox box

/etc/ssh/sshd_config PermitRootLogin no I honestly don't know why this isn't on by default. Also, fail2ban will prevent these attacks too. If you look in the logs, there are constant SSH attacks, especially from China/Asia.

    Proxmox 4.2 with pfSense 2.2.6

I haven't used Netgear, but I glanced at the manual: WebManagedSwitches_UM_EN.pdf Starting at page 47 There is a video on youtube, look up "Netgear GS105E Vlan Configuration / Setup" You need to configure a single port as a unique vlan for the cablemodem (let's use Vlan 5). You need to...

New Ceph 12.1.1 packages for testing, GUI for creating bluestore OSDs

FYI, just updated to 12.1.2 in latest update, and Ceph gets a warning because you have to enable applications now: Need to run this command in a shell: ceph osd pool application enable pveceph rbd

    Proxmox 4.2 with pfSense 2.2.6

I have a production Pfsense running on Proxmox4/Virtio. Only issue I had was had to disable checksum offloading for IPSEC to work. Had the exact same problem on a hardware based pfsense running Intel nics.

    Proxmox 4.2 with pfSense 2.2.6

Out of curiosity, try disabling PXE on NIC and verify you don't have IPMI enabled with dhcp (assuming it's built into the motherboard). I can't remember for sure, but max-cpe may be set by DHCP snooping on the modem (first mac-address to broadcast dhcp).

    Proxmox 4.2 with pfSense 2.2.6

For anyone googling the issue, if you have an Arris/Motorola modem and are running into this issue, use a dumb switch between cablemodem and proxmox and set a laptop/pc to 192.168.100.2/24 and open a web browser and go to http://192.168.100.1 - proceed to the "addresses" tab. There you will see...

New Ceph 12.1.1 packages for testing, GUI for creating bluestore OSDs

I'm more familiar with RedHat so aplogies if this is obvious, but I'm trying to switch to this test release, however when I do an apt-get update, it's still trying to update the "InRelease" branch. How do you force the test branch? I updated the no-subcription and standard ceph branches from...

    Proxmox 5 ethernet issues

Getting my ethernet interfaces renamed on a stock install, please let me know if this is a bug, and how I can fix, thanks. I also cannot edit the "renamex:" interfaces from the proxmox gui. Jul 7 11:40:37 pve kernel: [ 2.128510] igb 0000:07:00.1 eno1: renamed from eth1 Jul 7 11:40:37 pve...
