TrueNAS Enterprise, made by iXsystems, sells real SAN.

Finally, what I was hoping to read! :D I should say Proxmox+True NAS Enterprise=Heaven; 1:1 VMware functions + ZFS huge benefits.

Luckily, not everyone thinks the way you do.... In fact, the thread is becoming interesting. I repeat... I’ve been using Proxmox in production since 2012, and I’ve also been an Authorized Reseller—since 2013, I believe... you too?

@ AkUsP o satisfy your curiosity, we are talking about the classic SME baseline: Topology: 1 Single Site, 3 Compute Nodes (HA Cluster), ~30 TB usable capacity. What we want to accomplish for the client: High-Performance Shared Storage: Block-level performance with native, instant VM-level...

I think this discussion is going off-topic. I’m an IT consultant, and I’ve been running Proxmox in production since version 2. I’m asking a very practical business question, not looking for a definition academic debate. Yes, technically a ZFS server exporting iSCSI is a SAN. But in the real...

@janus57 and @alexskysilk Perhaps I wasn't clear. The question in this thread is: "Can I replicate the functionality offered by a SAN using Proxmox today, given that SAN vendors stubbornly refuse to provide direct support for Proxmox?" While running VM disks over NFS on an external ZFS server...

I mean Ceph and (in part) ZFS need more disks than a traditional SAN. And in these days disk's costs are insane.

@AkUsP How many disks are necessary for Ceph? For NTS? for a SAN? They're not the same number... quts-mega has a native integration with Proxmox for snapshot?

So for now,, Blockbridge or Ceph. No other way......

@IsThisThingOn Classic HA=SAN with 2 indipendent redundant controlller and 2 independent PSU+4 indipendent redundant connection multipath fiber+ serious UPS + automatic Vmotion through nodes

@J-Rod I have I made a simple request: purchasing NEW products, is there anything that can guarantee stability, High Availability (HA), and snapshots? CEOs usually don't buy on eBay... As far as I know today—October 2026—the only solution guaranteeing "stability, High Availability (HA), and...

Given the costs associated with competitors, more and more companies are considering Proxmox. But as things stand - aside from Blockbridge and Ceph (the latter being hard to recommend nowadays due to prohibitive disk costs) - are there enterprise-grade solutions available for new infrastructure...

I add my notes, i flew to the same conclusions: Problem Description: Under recent Proxmox VE kernels (6.8+ and 7.0+), servers equipped with Broadcom MegaRAID / HPE Smart Array Tri-Mode controllers (e.g., MR408i, MR216i, LSI 9500/9600 series using megaraid_sas) running ZFS or high-throughput...

Server is in production.... I can't do other test. The problem has already done enough damage... proxmox-boot-tool refresh is enough
