Normally it will trigger a licensing change as it's lots of changing hardware, but I might be mistaken. Why do you need to change otherwise? All it mostly does is expose PCIe so you can assign PCIe devices directly (like a GPU etc) You can...

For erasure coding with k=8 and m=3 you need at least 12 nodes.

I think you're asking the wrong question. what is the workload in vm count and minimum required iops/vm? how much capacity do you need? ceph works fine with hard drives. its just slow.

Yes it could be clearer, but "at time of writing (2026-01-09) only available on the test repo"...they're there on enterprise.

don't use consumer ssd with ceph or zfs. you need PLP to handle sync write
