We have the same problem. With E5-2690 v4 and E5-2690 v1 CPUs.
Kernel in the VM doesn't matter, Centos 7, Debian 10,11,12 with their kernels had the problem.
All VMs have CPU-Type kvm64.

After the upgrade 8.0-->8.1 with the new kernel VMs become unresponsive short after a live migration and need to be resettet.
Affected VMs so far all have the old CPU-Default KVM64. They are running Debian 10-12 with the respective default kernel.

I just upgraded one of our clusters in place from 4.4 to 5.1. It's a 3 host cluster with ceph as storage backend.
So far all went smooth.
The problem I stumbled upon was that some VMs (all linux kvm, all had vga set to cirrus) didn't live migrate.

I tried to set up a HA Cluster, but the web interface is breaking my cluster.conf every time I try to add a HA managed VM.
