    Hello everyone, problem solved. After digging deep in the host logs I found out that the kvm process for the problematic vm got killed by oom. I decreased the memory for that vm from 12 GiB (out of 16 GiB) to 10 GiB. Now the vm starts. Sorry for the inconvenience! Christoph
