Ok, so it sounds like you might be saying I might be able to solve this by going into the BIOS and "re-enable the Disk's write cache" ?

You can, but I'm going to say you shouldn't. ZFS shouldn't be used with hardware RAID. It wants to control all the drives itself. If I were you, I'd create another VM for testing and try the same DiskMark test again. Maybe play around with the... -
