OK, so proxmox would go on the SSDs connected to the BOSS, and then the VMS would go on a regular mirror? That makes senses. I've never built a 'mission critical' server with it, so I've always booted form a (good) USB stick with the VMs on a raid 1.
Thanks, yea, I'm not using proxmox because I'm a Linux guy who has a clue about how to setup a 'zfs mirror', but because it works and I'd rather not use VMWare or windows, so I appreciate your input!
Is the BOSS controller an alternative to their other raid controllers, or an addon? I tried...
I have a client that is looking to move an old physical Windows XP system that hosts an old FoxPro database critical to their business, to a VM on a proxmox server. I tried the setup on an old dell I have lying around, and it worked quite well.
Problem now is they want to buy a new system to...
"GUI > Top left drop down > Storage View > Storage > VM Disks/ISO/CT/etc"
Thanks! I got as far as 'storage view' , but don't see 'storage' anywhere after that..? Of course I didn't see 'storage view' till you pointed it out, so I may just be missing it.
I'm looking for something I was used to with vmware... In that you can simply right click on a datastore and select 'browse' and actually look at the files on that datastore. Is there no way to do that with proxmox?
Found an article here:
https://johnkeen.tech/proxmox-physical-disk-to-vm-only-2-commands/
And followed the instructions to add the 4 drives to the proper VM and will create the raid 0 setup in OMV.
(Just in case anybody else runs into this)
Thanks for the reply and info! I guess I should have mentioned what I want to do and get some advice: I have 4 6TB drives in the physical machine, I want to use those 4 drives on an open media vault VM as a 24TB drive for backing up my media server (which is why raid 0 is OK for it). Is there an...
Trying to create a raid 0 ZFS on my first time proxmox box, but it doesn't offer raid 0. Am I missing something or is this not an option? Is there another way to get a raid 0? Should I do hardware raid 0?
Thanks for any input1
Yep, this worked for me:
Btw, if you're looking for a solution, there is a simpler approach than the one suggested above. Edit this file:
/usr/share/perl5/PVE/Storage/NFSPlugin.pm
by commenting the following line in check_connection function:
Code:
if (my $err = $@) {
# return 0; ### this line...
This worked for me too. And given that it's day one with proxmox, and I have no linux knowledge to speak of, a very straight forward fix!
Thanks a million!
Just trying out ProxMox, and have hit a stop on day one: I'm trying to add storage, and when I try to add an NFS share to it, it get a message reporting:
create storage failed: error during cfs-locked 'file-storage_cfg' operation: storage 'mbnas01' is not online (500)
I tried to connect to...
