My best guess is that the ones who have written that do it without real knowledge of the tecnology. LACP does not mean performance gain for the individual connection as such. What it means is that more connections can be served concurrently with the full speed of one nic. No single connection can span over more than one nic. Apart from this it also means redundant connections which gives a higher availability.
