Hello,

I've a problem with a corrupted VMDK and I don't know how to repair it.

When I try to copy, clone or move, i've the message at about 40% of the job:

"qemu-img: error while reading sector 251341056: Input/output error"

How to repair it ?

thanks for your help

Eric

This could be an issue with the backing storage (disk going bad) - in this case probably your best bet is to backup whatever you can from inside the VMDK (not at the host level) and restore/copy it to a different disk.

Then start running tests on the possibly-bad disk, like read-only badblocks and SMART long test. Have a spare disk of the same size ready to replace it.

Thanks.
This is a windows server 2008 R2, and the VM is working fine, but there are some registered software, and I've lost the key (they are not cracked software), thats why I would like to move the VM on new hardware.
