Hi all,
I'm getting the message below every 10 seconds on a couple of proxmox nodes (I have three in a non ha cluster with lvm-thin vmstores)

pvestatd[1061]: command '/sbin/vgscan --ignorelockingfailure --mknodes' failed: exit code 5

Everything seems to be working well. Snapshots, live migrations, backups etc, but should I be concerned about the failure?

Thanks...

Hi,
could you share the output of vgs and the content of /etc/pve/storage.cfg (please redact user names, public IPs if you have any network storages) for the node(s) where the error appears?

Hi Fabian,
thanks for the reply.
I worked out what the problem was.
On the first node I installed PVE using the defaults. Then, for this node, I made separate lvm-thin storage (called 'vmstore') from a hardware raid volume. I probably clicked something I shouldn't have and 'vmstore' was set to shared across the cluster.

As soon as I selected 'vmstore' in the cluster storage area and made it available to just the node it was on, then the errors disappeared from the other two nodes.

Glad to hear and thanks for sharing the solution! Please mark the thread as solved by editing the thread and selecting the [SOLVED] prefix. This helps other users find solutions more easily.
