Hello,

I upgraded my proxmox system from 7.4 to 8.1.5, after the update process the samba shares stopped working. I removed the whole samba package, but I couln't resintall them again. Is there any way to revive the samba service?

Thanks,

Have you tried adding a SAMBA share from the GUI? Datacenter, Add: SMB/CIFS

If the packages have been removed try:

apt update, apt dist-upgrade & then apt install samba

I removed all the packages and reinstalled them again. I need to create the etc\samba config folder and the confgi file as well.
Now it's working.
