KVM or OpenVZ container?
And what problems do you have?

The choosen container is OpenVZ.
I downloaded ubuntu-9.04-x86 container, from http://wiki.openvz.org/Download/template/precreated, and I'm trying to install ubuntu-desktop and nfs server
When I try to install ubuntu-desktop, installation stopped because fuse needs udev, and can't install udev on a OpenVZ container
Something similar happens with nfs server: fails becasuse need to load an kernel module

ubuntu has many 'unneeded' dependencies to udev. Use debian, then you do not have that problems.

Or simply use a KVM VM - then you can do what you want.

I need create some ubuntu VM that will be upgrade automatically.
I think openvz is so good for that.

when you install gnome into a debian container also have a lot of problem

you need to make sure that you understand the difference of container virtualization and full virtualization. you cannot just do an apt-get install gnome in a container.

we started a project (http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/X11_Terminal_Server) and I assume that is exactly what you need.

you can grab the existing version here

You should also take a look behind, read articles in the openvz wiki,
e.g. http://wiki.openvz.org/X_inside_VE

In fact you can simply do yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment" or yum groupinstall "KDE..." in openvz container with Fedora (I am using fc9 template). It works pretty good. What you need is somehow get network access to X server. The best available free solution today is probably NX server and client http://www.nomachine.com/. Just freely download rpm and install nxclient, nxnode and nxserver http://www.nomachine.com/select-package.php?os=linux&id=1.
On your machine install nxclient only.
There is not problem with some dependencies on Fedora and fuse can be setuped according howto http://wiki.openvz.org/FUSE.

Have a virtual graphical desktop running all the time on server is pretty nice. You can connect from anywhere in network and you dont have to end your running application on client computer shutdown. Today it is possible to play movies through NX connection nearly smoothly in full screen. Maybe one day it will not take 100% of cpu on fast client computer and it will be more usable even on less powerfull fanless pc.

Does it include GNOME or KDE ? possibly LTSP also?

yes, it will included Gnome and nx server.
No LTSP, any idea?

x2go is a very interesing solution. is it possible install it into this template?
most of packets have depncy to udev....
is it way install it without udev (and without KVM)

P.S. Proxmox is the best software for VMs. i love it

x2go like freenx are nx server implementation, they need a X server (they are server modified)
It's imposible :-(

I am. I currently use Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop edition (with comes with FreeNX pre-installed). I did used before the CentOS + yum installgroup "Gnome Desktop Environment" + FreeNX server solution and works fine as well. However, I'm very interested in testing x2go :)

in openVZ container?

Yes. In an OpenVZ container.

You can also install the ubuntu with comes on proxmox (no desktop) and intall the GNOME desktop environment group.

How do I reset my password in Ubuntu without knowing it?I recently installed Ubuntu on a virtual machine. When I made the account while installing, I made the password 2251, but now when I type the password in for installing updates, etc., it doesn't work. It's possible that I'm wrong, but I've tried every other password that I would use, and none of them work. How can I reset the password, or at least make another user account with equal administrative privileges?

I guess its a OpenVZ VM? Simply start the VM, and open an VNC console (this does not need a password). Then simply change the PW with the 'passwd' command.

I would never opt for windows for any service that I want to be reliable. Even though I voted for Ubuntu Server, I would opt for Debian Stable over Ubuntu Server.

now that we are talking about how many have Photoshop and who would want to start a team to do this?.
