Maybe Stratis could be a future storage solution for Proxmox. The solution combines the best parts from ZFS and BTRFS but doing it using existing kernel tools. DM and XFS.

I always thought this is a joke ...

Unfortunately, the biggest shortcomings of ZFS and BTRFS is the restriction to run on a single node ... That would be good thing to add to a new FS that is trying to fix the stuff that is wrong with both of them.

There is nothing in the Paper which leds to multi node filesystem. XFS isn't a clustered filesystem.

Btw. Clustered filesystem are all slow with small files because of the latencys of locks, theya re good for HPC like Lustre etc. for real large files.

Please note that we already have tools to manage LVM, make subvolumes, put file systems above and make snapshots and clones. All this is done with our storage library. So it is totally unclear what we would gain from an additional management layer?
