Running Proxmox VE from usb

Hi,

Want to install pve on usb flash stick.
This will be used on a home server. So not very intensive tasks.

All templates, ISO's, VM images, and VM backups will be saved on separate hard disks.

The questions:
  1. How big would the USB need to be? i.e. how big would PVE actually get without all the above mentioned data?
  2. How big will the performance impact, if any, be?
  3. Are there any other things I should be concerned about?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I too would like the answer to this!

I read a post somewhere where a guy was trying this in PVE 1.7 or 1.9 or something and it was a pain! He had to hack the installation script and all sorts of things i don't want to get into myself.

I want to run my PVE from USB and have it stor my VM on my NAS using either Iscsi or NFS. Since the guy i talked about above was running a later version i was hoping we would have support for Live USB installs in the newer versions.

Sincerly

Casper

PS: This product seems SO SWEET!!! can't wait to play with it
