Required suggesstions for optimum configurations values

Our Virtual Server Configuration is as follows
# 72GB DDR3 Memory
# 2 Intel Quad Core i7 Xeon processory (Hyperthreaded so the OS sees a total of 16 processors)
# 6 1TB drives raided into a RAID 1+0 which provides 3TB of redundant storage
# It is currently running Ubuntu server 9.04 with the proxmox 1.3 packages for managing VMs and to provide the kernel with the openvz and kvm modules.

We currently have three Java based application servers on these hosted servers with CPUUNITS of all being 50000 ,50000 and 100000 respectively .We face a issue of high loads on all the servers .Please can you all suggest what all optimum values should we keep for all the resource management components

instead, you should find/identify the reason for the high load?

Tom and Dietmar,

currently we are having 2 servers with identical source code of Java based application. 1 server is a physical host machine and another one is based on openvz container. Physical server not having any High load issue but on openvz container we are facing high load issue.

This behaviour might be because of the application is not getting the resources which are require to perform the execution of the java based application. So we tried to tweak by increasing the CPUUNITS and memory but no luck.

In the container configuration file there are other resource management parameters, If you guys can help me out here to tweak these parameters to get the optimum performance of this container then it will be great.

I suggest to use a KVM VM - then you get the same behaviour as on the physical server.
