Hi Guys

My root filesystem on my Proxmox-Backup runs out of space. What can I do?

ERROR: Backup of VM 100 failed - VM 100 qmp command 'backup' failed - backup connect failed: command error: write failed: No space left on device (os error 28)

Hey,

when was the last time you ran GC? Other than that expand your storage. (I assume the datastore is on this filesystem)

Hi Hannes

GC is running daily on all Datastores in the PBS. I saw that in /var/log/proxmox-backup/tasks one folder is about 365 GB big, can I delete this one folder? And why is it filling the root filesystem with these logs?

Best regards,
Mare

Could you do a du -h /var/log/proxmox-backup/tasks/<DIR_NAME>/* of the large folder? Those are the logs of tasks that ran, but 365GB for logs seems a little much, so I'd be interested to what task produced this amount of logs.

There a lot of these Garbage collection, like the red marked line.

Best regards,
Mare

Generally you can delete task logs, but maybe check first why this one is so large, this could indicate some other problem. Also, did you run a verify lately?

I think you helped me a lot, deleting of the task logs. Now the Backups are working again and did and Ugrade from 2.2-1 to 2.2-5.
