I have been trying to setup a Centos 5.6 openvz container on my Proxmox 1.8 server which is a Dell PE1950 with two NIC cards. The first NIC is on my trusted network, and the second in my DMZ. I'm not sure how to do this for the virtual container. I'm a Linux noob.

When I create it using the virtual network, I can assign the IP in the DMZ and it can ping everything else in the DMZ, but cannot leave the subnet. I assumed this was a default gateway so set one in the network ifcfg-XXX files, but that doesn't seem to work (I can ping the default gateway but after rebooting and / or restarting network it doesn't work). If I create a virtual machine on the trusted network, everything works fine.

If I try using bridged ethernet (VMBR1) which is connected with the NIC on the DMZ, I get nothing but a loopback connector.

Can someone point me in the correct direction? I'm not able to find clear documentation on doing what I want to do.

So is this not possible or people don't know or have I asked the question incorrectly or?

First, I suggest to upgrade to the latest version. 1.8 is outdated.
