I am having a problem with the NoVNC console viewer. Essentially my spacebar does not work anywhere. In a Linux CLI VM, or a Windows GUI VM, or even the server console itself, the space bar simply does not work anywhere.

This is only a issue with Chrome (I am on 43.0.2357.132), Internet Explorer works fine.

I first noticed this issue last week sometime but I am not sure if it is related to a recent proxmox update or a recent Chrome update. I am on the latest no-subscription proxmox 3.4 software.

Just wondering if anyone has seen an issue like this or has any ideas.

Hi,
did you tried to clean the cache?

My Chrome browser cache? Yes. It is happening on 3 computes I tried too. Space bar does not work in on any of them with Chrome. Very strange.

strange.
at my machine PVE 3.4 latest with chrome 44 everything is working.
what do you use for a keyboard layout?

Whatever is Windows default. So English U.S.

If it's not much trouble and you would like I can provide you a login to my server where you can open the console of an unimportant VM. Not sure how I can send you the credentials though if it's something you are willing to do. Maybe I can determine then if it's some Chrome setting of mine (that gets synced between my computers from Chrome sync) or if it's something with my PvE.

If not no problem.

sorry we do not connect to other nodes.

can you try to erase your Chrome profile on one PC and the erase all browser settings and caches?
this should be no problem when you use chrome sync for your settings.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I ended up finding the problem.

The problem was caused by a browser extension called smoothscroll.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/smoothscroll/nbokbjkabcmbfdlbddjidfmibcpneigj?hl=en

My extensions get synced to all my browsers so that is why all my Chrome browsers across computers were affected regardless of clearing their cache and things.

The extension has an option called "enable keyboard support" which makes using the spacebar, arrow, and pageup/down keys to scroll be smooth rather than unsmooth as is default. I don't really use those options to scroll do I just disabled keyboard support. I could also add my proxmox url as an exception to the extension too.
