Hello, I'm very new to this, trying to set-up my first simple system. Before I go to far into this, I need to ask: is it possible to set-up my system on a 1-drive laptop using NAS storage for the datacenter? Or do I need two drives on my system running Proxmox? E.g. a drive for the OS, and a drive to store VMs?

Is there any way i can set this up with just the laptop with one drive, and a NAS with lots of available storage?

Thank you, in advance.

It will work but isn't really recommended if you want stable operation. Its no problem to use the same disk for OS + VM /LXC storage. Bigger problem would be that you can't mirror your storage, so everything is lost when your disk fails (and it will fail...the question is just when and not if).

I think I have both local and CIFS storage set up correctly now.

But when I try to create a virtual machine, I'm getting this error when I launch the OS installer:

...and the installation hangs on the final step.
