We just released new Kernels to the pvetest repository. Anybody is encouraged to test and give feedback.

Kernel 2.6.32 (KVM and OpenVZ, default kernel branch)

pve-kernel-2.6.32 (2.6.32-22)

  • upgrade to Debian Squeeze kernel 2.6.32-24 (OpenVZ 2.6.32-dyomin)
  • strip debug info
  • remove default initrd image (no longer needed)
  • do not set CONFIG_DMAR_DEFAULT_ON
  • enable CAPIDRV module
Kernel 2.6.35 (no OpenVZ but KSM)

pve-kernel-2.6.35 (2.6.35-5)

  • use selinux insead of apparmor (CONFIG_DEFAULT_SECURITY_SELINUX=y)
  • bug fix: really enable CONFIG_BLK_CGROUP
  • enable CONFIG_CFQ_GROUP_IOSCHED
  • remove default initrd image (no longer needed)
  • fix fsync performance: sched-fix.diff
  • strip debug symbols
  • enable CONFIG_BLK_CGROUP
  • disable HPSA driver
  • do not set CONFIG_DMAR_DEFAULT_ON
  • update to Ubuntu-2.6.35-22.34

hi !!

I tried this kernel (2.6.32.22 / openvz) on my new server but it is still not compatible with my network card (Intel ® 82576 controller,), and it can release a compatible update?

regars.

Sorry, we already include the latest available driver for that card (ixgbe-2.1.4.tar.gz). What error do you get?

Thank you back

The network card works fine but the nod since the flow is correct, but from a vm throughput collapses, we download a 14Kbit / S no more.

I saw with 2.6.18 and 2.6.24 but no worries since the 2.6.32-X including 2.6.32.4 (pvetest) there is problem

tks

Hi,

I confirm, that new pve-kernel with option:
CONFIG_CC_OPTIMIZE_FOR_SIZE=y

runs fine with emulex FC HBA ;-).

Thanks a lot for your support!

What version do you use exactly? (please can you test with the latest version from pvetest)

I use (and i try) Last kernel:

- 2.6.32.3 => bug controler 82576 slow bandwidth into VM - fast bandwidth into NOD
- 2.6.32.4 => bug controler 82576 slow bandwidth into VM - fast bandwidth into NOD
- 2.6.32.4 (PVE TEST) => bug controler 82576 slow bandwidth into VM - fast bandwidth into NOD

Old Kernel
- 2.6.18.3 => no BUG controler 82576 Fast bandwidth into VM - fast bandwidth into NOD
- 2.6.24.12 => no BUG controler 82576 Fast bandwidth into VM - fast bandwidth into NOD

But I think the old kernel is the problem of security vulnerability in particular that of the root access 64 bit

Attached is a test version PvE test kernel

i'm sorry :/

We just released new Kernels (2.6.18, 2.6.24 and 2.6.32) including the fix for CVE-2010-3081.
ok, ok 2.6.24 it's patched so gooddddd

i reinstall my serveur and downgrade my kernel 2.6.24 :) for prod. :p

but for my bug ? for kernel 2.6.32-X and pve test ? i have solution or fix ?

Thx Tom and Dietmar for support.

we have not seen this issue here, so if we cannot reproduce it here it will be hard to see more.

Hello,

I've got the same problem. Slow Traffic in VM but Full Speed in the node.
Nic is also an Intel 82576.

What can i test for you. I update the kernel today from your repo but still the same :-(

Hello,

Just want to complete my tests.

with Kernel : pve-kernel-2.6.32-4-pve_2.6.32-24_amd64.deb -> Nodespeed Gigabit |VZspeed 13-27K/s

with Kernel : pve-kernel-2.6.24-12-pve_2.6.24-25_amd64.deb + igb from Intel -> Nodespeed Gigabit | VZspeed Gigabit
(This Kernel have no working igb Driver so i have to compile module igb-2.3.4)
