Network Limitations?

One of the features I really like in Proxmox 1.X was the ability to manage machines in different datacenters within a single cluster. However, I noticed in the requirements:

"All nodes must be in the same network as it uses IP Multicast to communicate between nodes (See also Corosync Cluster Engine). Note: Some switches do not support IP multicast by default and must be manually enabled first. See multicast notes for more information about multicast."

Does this mean I would lose the ability to include nodes from different datacenters entirely, or would there be some sort of reduced functionality?

Someone posted some info recently on getting multicast working over openvpn which might help with multiple datacenters, a quick search and you will find that.

Currently 2.0 seems geared towards a single datacenter.
Not sure what the developers plans are but I hope that multi-datacenter support is part of their long term goals.
