Hi there,

I had a problem with high load on the server due to a problem if a VM in my proxmox. Now I am not able to login anymore via web interface with root credentials via PAM.

It only shows: Login failed. Please try again

Version I have: pve-manager/3.2-3/38bfef76 (running kernel: 2.6.32-27-pve)

What can I do now?

Thank you very much!

3.2 is totally outdated, you should upgrade your system.

and make sure that your system time is ok, maybe this is the issue here.

Thank you for your reply. Is there any good guide how to upgrade the system from wheezy to jessie including upgrading proxmox?

Hi there, sys time is okay. Any other ideas how to solve this issue before I update the system?

are you sure you type in the credentials correctly?
A reboot might do wonders sometime as well. and like Tom said, upgrade your proxmox, 3.2 is very outdated.

Yes sure, I'm using keepass autotype, so typos can also be precluded.
When restarting the server via console: will the vms stop correctly and autostart on reboot again?

the VMs should stop correctly (it will send a shutdown command to all of them, and waits until they are all shutdown).
The autostart depends on if you enabled the "start on boot" option of the VMs.
