Sometimes, some kvms are having very very high IO like 1-2 G Disk IO:

And that makes vm unresponsive. So is this related to Proxmox / VM itself or Zfs file system?

Thats seems to be impossible inside vm but these vms have sql server installed. So where should go first you think?

You should take a look at the metrics of your VMs, the graphics in Proxmox can provide an indication, but they are not very accurate like Grafana or checkmk. You can also easily find the culprit in your metrics, as you can select and check the I/O by VM there.

I know some io actions in windows is happening like sql is doing some read/writes. But what I do not understand is how it can go that much and make vm unresponsive. Setting disk io limit does not work. So I feel like it is related to zfs ?

Why speculate? Just look at the monitoring or your metrics and it will be clear where it comes from. Only then can you check in detail which process or action exactly triggers it and define a specific measure for it.

Just take a look at your monitoring or your metrics to see whether the graphics from Proxmox can correspond to reality or not.

Instead of constantly beating around the bush and providing no and meaningless information and statements, bring real facts to the table on the basis of which someone could help you.
