[SOLVED] Import KVM Snapshots to Proxmox

Hello,

I'm excited to share that I've successfully migrated and imported two virtual machines from an existing KVM ovirt environment to a new hyperconverged Proxmox setup, utilizing an external Ceph cluster, which also operates as a KVM environment. Leveraging the Proxmox migration guidelines, I navigated through the process seamlessly.

In testing the functionality, I've experimented with both the snapshot features within Proxmox and Ceph, finding them to work flawlessly. During my research, I stumbled upon information suggesting that existing snapshots could be integrated into specific VM configurations, stored in /etc/pve/qemu-server/<name>.conf.

In my scenario, one machine already has two snapshots that I wish to import and integrate into Proxmox. Is there a method to accomplish this task? I'd greatly appreciate any assistance or suggestions you can provide on this matter.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,
Batuhan

I don't think this will work. The snapshot info in the config file of the VM stores the config at the time of the snapshot creation. But the disk images are snapshotted in the underlying storage layer. So unless you migrated from Ceph to Ceph with all the snapshots of the disk image still present, this will not work AFAIU.
