Hello there,

I have some raw template images (e.g. debian11.img) I want to import to my Proxmox VE instance to use them as templates to create KVMs. I use a ZFS volume, local-zfs.
When I searched the web, I found this thread from 2015: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/import-convert-export-raw-images-to-zfs-volume.21241/

This thread describes exactly my issue, I have exactly the same question as the thread creator had, but the solutions provided didn't work for me. I suppose that the provided solutions are just outdated.

I would appreciate any help!

Hi @emir1984 , it would be easier if you described what exact issue you had rather than referring to a post from 9 years ago.

Admittedly, I have not read that post. Based on the fact that you are using "local-zfs" and you want to import an image in "raw" format, you should use "qm disk import" (man qm), that should just work for you absent other conditions or issues not mentioned.

Good luck

Hello,

well, I don’t know what else to describe. I want to import a raw image into a disk to use it as a template and I use ZFS. What information is missing?

Anyways, I will try your command.

Thanks

You said that you tried various things and they didnt work. What exactly did you try and how it didnt work for you? Including the command I mentioned and the variant of it that @fabian mentioned. In fact, I would start with those.

good luck
